Microsoft Courses 50027 Querying and Processing SQL Server Data Using Microsoft SQL Server — A 2-Day

Course Synopsis

This two-day, hands-on course covers everything database administrators and developers need to know to query SQL Server databases using SELECT statements ranging from simple to complex, and use INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE statements to modify and maintain data. Creating and using of VIEWS is also covered, along with accessing data through stored procedures and user-defined functions.

Please note that although this course is validated and supplied by Microsoft, the content is not based on Microsoft Official Curriculum.

Course Objectives

On completion of this SQL Server training course, delegates should be able to:

  • Describe the uses of and ways to execute the SQL language
  • Use querying tools
  • Write SELECT queries to retrieve data
  • Group and summarize data by using SQL
  • Join data from multiple tables
  • Write queries that retrieve and modify data by using subqueries
  • Modify data in tables

Intended Audience

This SQL training course is intended for:

  • IT Professionals who will be writing queries for use with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Non-technical "power users" will also benefit from the course if they are comfortable using sophisticated software tools like SQL Server Management Studio.

Course Prerequisites

Before attending this course, delegates are expected to have:

  • Experience using a Microsoft Windows operating system
  • An understanding of basic relational database concepts, including:
    • Logical and physical database design
    • Data integrity concepts
    • Relationships between tables and columns (primary key and foreign key, one-to-one, one-to-many, and many-to-many)
    • How data is stored in tables (rows and columns)
  • Familiarity with the role of the database administrator
