ISEB Certificate in Project Management— A 10-Day Course
Synopsis
This 10-day course is intended for those who have experience in management and want to acquire formal project management training, with exposure to current project management products, techniques and tools, and for staff working in information systems who wish to take on project responsibilities.
The ISEB syllabus requires training providers to include a recognised methodology. In order to fulfil this requirement we have chosen PRINCE2™, for which full training is included.
The course includes techniques for managing high technology and often complex projects. These are of general applicability, but focused on IS project management issues on the course.
This course also covers the syllabus for both the Foundation and Practitioner in PRINCE2 qualification.
Course Objectives
After completing this course the student will be able to:
- Understand and apply the steps needed to initiate a project successfully
- Specify the project organisation and define key roles and responsibilities
- Prepare the project business case and justification
- Conduct risk management
- Prepare plans for a project and stages using appropriate techniques
- Understand the PRINCE2 process model
- Apply the PRINCE2 processes
- Plan, implement and monitor project controls using PRINCE2
- Conduct quality reviews
- Implement configuration management for a project
- Identify, organise, motivate and schedule staff to meet project objectives
- Apply project management techniques in a traditional and Rapid Application Development environment
Intended Audience
This training event is primarily of benefit to:
- Project managers and IS staff involved in the management of projects who wish to demonstrate their professionalism by obtaining the ISEB Certificate in Project Management
Prerequisites
Before attending this course, students must have:
- A minimum of 4 years experience in management and/or information systems
Examinations
This course is recommended as preparation for ISEB Certificate in Project Management examinations. These consist of a 3-hour written exam paper and an oral examination (usually lasting about 45 minutes) to be arranged with the ISEB. Candidates who take the Certificate in Project Management written examination will be required to take the oral examination within 12 months of notification by ISEB of passing the written examination. Any candidate who does not take the oral examination within this timeframe will be required to take and pass the written examination again. However, it has been agreed that ISEB may waive this regulation in exceptional circumstances on a case by case basis.

This course has a residential option which includes 8 nights accommodation. Please add £960 to the course price if you require the residential option.
