Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

Synopsis

The CCNP certification (Cisco Certified Network Professional) indicates advanced or journeyman knowledge of networks. With a CCNP, a network professional can install, configure, and troubleshoot local and wide area networks for enterprise organizations with medium-sized networks from 100 to more than 500 nodes. The content emphasizes topics such as security, converged networks, quality of service (QoS), virtual private networks (VPN) and broadband technologies.

A CCNP certified individual will be able to:

  • Implement appropriate technologies to build a scaleable routed network
  • Build campus networks using multilayer switching technologies
  • Improve traffic flow, reliability, redundancy,and performance for campus LANs, routed and switched WANs, and remote access networks
  • Deploy QoS, VPN, and converged networks in the enterprise
  • Troubleshoot an environment that uses Cisco routers and switches for multiprotocol client hosts and services

Intended Audience

This certification is intended for network technicians responsible for implementing and managing medium sized business networks.

Prerequisites:

Valid CCNA certification.

Re-certification

CCNP certifications are valid for three years. To re-certify, pass any 642 exam that is part of the professional level curriculum after the 01/01/06. OR pass any CCIE written exam.
