Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP)
Synopsis
The CCSP certification (Cisco Certified Security Professional) validates knowledge and skills needed to build comprehensive, integrated network security solutions, which has become more in demand as organisations respond to the heightened need for integrated network security solutions. The CCSP curriculum emphasizes secure VPN management, Cisco Adaptive Security Device Manager (ASDM), PIX firewall, Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Cisco Security Agent (CSA), and techniques to combine these technologies in a single, integrated network security solution
A CCSP certified individual will be able to:
- Secure the network infrastructure using Cisco security products and integrated technologies
- Deploy perimeter security, VPNs, and intrusion protection technologies and solutions
- Monitor and detect relevant security events
- Manage network security to protect productivity gains and reduce costs
Intended Audience
The CCSP certification is intended for network technicians whose role is to secure and manage network infrastructures.
Prerequisites:
Valid CCNA certification.
Recommended Training
The recommended training courses for gaining CCSP are:
- Securing Networks with Cisco Routers & Switches (SNRS)
- Implementing Cisco Intrusion Prevention System (IPS)
- Securing Networks with ASA Fundamentals (SNAF)
- plus
- Securing Networks with ASA Advanced (SNAA)
- or
- Implementing Cisco NAC Appliance (CANAC)
- or
- Implementing Cisco Security Monitoring, Analysis and Response System (MARS)

Re-certification
CCSP certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass any 642 exam that is part of the professional level curriculum after 01/01/06. OR pass any CCIE written exam.
