Implementing CiscoWorks for Enterprise LAN/WAN Management (CWENT) — A 5-day course

Synopsis

The 5-day CWENT course is a necessity for those managing small/medium/large Cisco-based LANs and WANs. CWENT combines lecture and extensive hands-on lab time using special software to instruct the students on how to apply CiscoWorks applications to manage network configurations, faults and performance. This course will show the students how to manage and solve problems using the applications and tools bundled together in the LMS (LAN Management Solution) and RWAN (Routed WAN) management solution sets. The applications covered in this course are:

  • CiscoView
  • Resource Manager Essentials (RME)
  • Campus Manager
  • Device Fault Manager (DFM)
  • nGenius Real-Time Monitor (RTM)
  • Internetwork Performance Monitor (IPM)
  • Access Control List Manager (ACLM)

Course Objectives

After completing this training course the student will be able to:

  • Understand network management principles using CiscoWorks
  • Understand the requirements for deploying CiscoWorks
  • JumpStart CiscoWorks by populating the database and user accountsConduct asset management using Inventory Management (RME)
  • Manage network connections using Campus Manager
  • Perform configuration management and software management
  • Monitor network performance with CiscoWorks and nGeniusPerform fault management using CiscoWorks tools

Intended Audience

This course will is aimed at network managers, administrators and other network operators who need to learn about managing networks with Cisco network management tools.

Prerequisites

  • Knowledge of basic Cisco IOS commands
  • Knowledge of basic Cisco Catalyst OS commands
  • Basic knowledge of TCP/IP
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows
  • Basic Internet browser navigation skills
  • Basic e-mail usage skills
