Advanced Presentation Skills — A 2-Day Course

Course Synopsis

Increasingly, important decisions are made as a result of high quality presentations. This course is for all levels, including the most senior executive, who seek to enhance their abilities to impress groups and audiences. It is aimed at presenters with good basic presentation skills who need to make really challenging presentations, utilising the technology available.

Audiences now expect a high quality professional performance. This programme provides the tools and techniques to achieve that level of performance.

This will be a highly participative workshop. It is designed to develop skills and build confidence, via trainer input, help and guidance, personal assessment and interactive sessions.

Anyone who has experience at presenting who would like to improve their skills and make their presentation style more dynamic would benefit from attending this course.

Course Objectives

On completion of this training course, delegates will be able to:

  • Recognise how to structure a presentation
  • Establish credibility with your audience
  • Look at ways to make presentations more dynamic and to have impact by using verbal and non-verbal communication to your advantage
  • Select the appropriate facilitation style for the presentation, looking at ways to hold interest when presenting
  • Have considered ways of involving the audience
  • Deal confidently with difficult situations and people, involving posing and taking questions
  • Use a range of technology and visual aids more effectively
  • Explain how to use a 'park' sheet system, enabling them to manage the presentation more effectively
  • Develop successful strategies for co-presenting, presenting at internal and external board meetings, and at councils/committees
  • Build self-confidence when using technology to deliver your presentation
  • Review the capabilities and functionality of PowerPoint to enhance your presentation

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and basic presentations experience are required to benefit from this course.

Preparation Work

Attendees will need to bring with them a major presentation that they wish to rehearse. Also any supporting material and PowerPoint slides that may be used during the presentation.
