This section of the site contains a range of Lean & Lean Lean Six Sigma training courses.

Courses offered in this topic are as indicated (* Open Public Course * Closed In-House Course)

Lean and Six Sigma, both proven business improvement approaches, provide businesses with the ability to maximise customer, employee and shareholder value by minimising process variation and operational waste.

GBDirect provides a modular approach to allow organisations and individuals to develop Lean Six Sigma skills through a series of industry recognised levels of capability (belts).

Lean Six Sigma

The concept that things vary is simple; it is intuitively obvious that we are all different. But actually understanding the degree to which things differ and having the ability to measure and control variation is not. In the early 80’s Motorola developed a methodology, universally known as Six Sigma, to understand and measure process variation. This methodology has now been adopted by many organisations around the world to understand and improve the way in which they do business.

The simple concepts that Six Sigma introduce change the way we view performance. The concept of defining what we are going to do, what and how we are going to measure may seem obvious, but how many of us actually do it?

Many companies today solve problems or issues with quick fixes; simple sticking-plaster solutions. Or alternatively they ignore what is in front of them and carry on doing tomorrow what they do today! Companies like Motorola and General Electric have provided a set of tools that are supported by the DMAIC methodology.

Six Sigma and the other business improvement tools are not silver bullet solutions. Simply going on a training course is not the sole step to take. Business Improvement is a journey that requires new skills, an opportunity to reflect, the audacity to do things different and the strength and courage to make changes. If you believe you have these then Six Sigma may be for you.

Lean Solutions

Lean is an innovative and powerful improvement approach that directly improves bottom-line business performance by minimising operational waste and increasing customer satisfaction. The approach focuses on developing business processes that are waste and error free; and aligned to meet customer demand satisfactorily and profitably. All our Lean courses use the DMAIC improvement methodology (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control) to provide participants with a structured approach with which to improve business performance.
