Courses in Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with UML

Courses offered in this topic are as indicated (* Open Public Course * Closed In-House Course)

Object-Oriented techniques, together with the Unified Modeling Language (UML), have emerged as the standard for modern software design, development and deployment. Consequently it is necessary for staff working within these areas to be familiar with these techniques. However, not everyone needs the same level or detail and for that reason we provide a complementary suite of courses addressing the specific needs of differing audiences.

For the Project Manager, we offer "UML for Project Managers", a one or two day course showing how the UML is used throughout an OO project and how the project scheduling and planning is supported by the UML. This is linked to estimation techniques and Product Based Planning (as defined within PRINCE2). In fact, as we are PRINCE2 approved, we can explain how this technology is used within a PRINCE2 project.

For Developers, we provide in-depth end-to-end training, "UML for Industrial Strength Software Development". This course covers OO and UML in extensive detail. The use of the UML in forming a continuous path from Requirements Gathering through to Delivery is emphasised, which will help participants deliver high-quality surprise-free systems.

Since Use Cases are such a fundamental technique (and not necessarily bound to the UML) we provide a course dedicated to the design and production of Use Cases, "Writing and Using Effective Use Cases". Since the audience for Use Cases can be very wide, the audience for this two-day course is also correspondingly wide.

Finally, for those staff that need an overview of UML and OO (to what we call a "non-blink" level) we provide a variety of shorter courses and seminars, "Overview of OO Analysis, UML and Design", "Introduction to Object Oriented Analysis and Design" and "Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with UML".
