Courses in Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with UML
Courses offered in this topic are as follows
- Overview of OO Analysis, UML and Design - A 1-Day Course
- Introduction to OO Analysis and Design - A 2-Day Course
- Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with UML — A 3-Day Course
- Writing and Using Effective Use Cases - A 2-Day Course
- UML for Industrial Strength Software Development — A 4-day course
- Business Systems Analysis using UML — A 5-day course
- UML for Project Managers — A 1-day seminar
Object-Oriented techniques, together with the UML, have emerged as the standard for modern software design, development and deployment. Consequently it is necessary for staff working within these areas to be familiar with these techniques. However, not everyone needs the same level or detail and for that reason we provide a complementary suite of courses addressing the specific needs of differing audiences.
For the Project Manager, we offer "UML for Project Managers", a one or two day course showing how the UML is used throughout an OO project and how the project scheduling and planning is supported by the UML. This is linked to estimation techniques and Product Based Planning (as defined within PRINCE2). In fact, as we are PRINCE2 approved, we can explain how this technology is used within a PRINCE2 project.
For the Business Analyst, we focus on the use of the UML as a Business Analysis technique and a requirements capture technique, showing how Business Use Cases are related to Requirements, how to produce complete and unambiguous requirements, how to write Business and System Use Cases, and how the Use Cases relate to OO analysis and design. This training is provided by three or four-day courses "Requirements with the UML".
For Developers, we provide in-depth end-to-end training across the complete project lifecycle in the use of the UML to provide a path from Requirements Capture and Analysis into Design and Deployment, with three, four or five-day courses "UML for Software Development". These courses cover OO and UML in extensive detail, the longer courses using a variety of Case Studies to provide experience of advanced design and modelling techniques.
Since Use Cases are such a fundamental technique (and not necessarily bound to the UML) we provide a course dedicated to the design and production of Use Cases, "Writing and Using Effective Use Cases". Since the audience for Use Cases can be very wide, the audience for this two-day course is also correspondingly wide.
For customers who have decided to use the TopTeam Requirements and Use Case Management Tool, we provide a 3-day course "Writing and Managing Use Cases with TopTeam", which address the general points of Requirements and Use Cases and then shows how TopTeam can be effectively used to improve efficiency of production and maintenance.
Finally, for those staff that need an overview of UML and OO (to what we call a "non-blink" level) we provide a variety of shorter courses and seminars, "SDLCs, the UML and Requirements", "Overview of OO Analysis, UML and Design"
