VMware vSphere 4: Install, Configure, Manage — A 4-day course

Course Overview

Please note, from 23rd August 2010, this course will be changing to 5 days and consequently be increasing in price. The outline is subject to change for the longer length course.

This hands-on training course explores installation, configuration, and management of VMware® vSphere, which consists of VMware ESXi/ESX™, and VMware vCenter Server. The course is based on ESXi 4.0, ESX 4.0, and vCenter Server 4.0. Upon completion of this course, you can take the examination to become a VMware Certified Professional. Please note: The exam is not part of the course and the fee is not included in the price of the course.

Objectives

At the end of the course, you should gain an understanding of the functionality in VMware vSphere 4 and be able to:

  • Install and configure ESX
  • Install and configure vCenter Server
  • Configure and manage ESX networking and storage using vCenter Server
  • Deploy and manage virtual machines
  • Manage user access to the VMware infrastructure
  • Increase scalability using vCenter Server
  • Monitor resource usage using vCenter Server
  • Apply patches using vCenter Update Manager
  • Manage higher availability and data protection using vCenter Server

Suitable for

  • System administrators, systems engineers, and operators responsible for ESXi, ESX, and/or vCenter Server

Prerequisites

  • System administration experience on Microsoft Windows or Linux operating systems
